How many questions are in the Life in the UK test?
24 questions, with 45 minutes to answer them: just under 2 minutes a question.
You need 18 of the 24 right to pass (the pass mark). Most people finish well inside the time: the questions are short, and you either know the fact or you do not.
Where the 24 questions come from
All of them come from the handbook, "Life in the United Kingdom: A Guide for New Residents", and from every part of it, so history, society and government all matter. Our bank has questions from each chapter in proportion to the handbook:
- Chapter 1: The values and principles of the UK, 15 questions
- Chapter 2: What is the UK?, 15 questions
- Chapter 3: A long and illustrious history, 262 questions
- Chapter 4: A modern, thriving society, 160 questions
- Chapter 5: The UK government, the law and your role, 199 questions
That is enough for 27 numbered practice tests of 24 questions without a repeat, or a new random mock exam every time.
