Life in the UK test pass mark
You need 75% to pass: 18 of the 24 questions right. You can get up to 6 wrong.
If you pass
You get a unique reference number. It goes into your citizenship or settlement application, and the Home Office uses it to check that you passed. People who took the test before 17 December 2019 have a letter with a "test reference ID" instead.
If you fail
You can book the test again as many times as you need, and pay the fee each time. See how booking works.
How to tell you are ready
Our mock exam is marked the same way: 24 random questions, 45 minutes, 18 of the 24 to pass. Passing one by a narrow margin can be luck with the questions you drew; passing several in a row with room to spare is a better sign. Between mock exams, go back over your mistakes and practise the chapters you score worst in.
